Cookies and flowers

Yesterday Malias found the small package of sugar cookie mix that he had begged for a couple weeks ago while grocery shopping with me. I caved. And again, I caved yesterday when he was so excitedly asking me to make some yummy cookies.
I am trying to lose weight so this doesn't help so much, but since it was a small package and I felt like I could control myself I decided not to turn him down. Plus, I really love to let him "help" me make things in the kitchen when I can, and I know he loves it.
Plus we finally got to use his car cookie cutters Grandpa Long gave him which made this cookie making adventure, just about the best! (thank you Gpa Long!!)
I let him cut out almost all of the cookies (with a bit of guidance from me) and he thought that was the best thing ever!! It was fun to see him so happy.
Then with the last bit of dough we rolled it into a circle-ish blob and used a toothpick to make an "M" for Malias. He also thought that was pretty exciting.
Anyways, once they were baked I tried out my glaze icing recipe and skills....which are lacking..ha ha! And let Malias frost a few however he wanted...which ended up with him dumping spoonfuls of icing onto the plate and cookies.
But it was fun!

Proud little buddy.

His cookies. (I helped with the red icing)

Yummy!!

And messy!!!

Some cookies I glazed.

Next up...
Flowers!

The previous owners to our home had a Mother that was an awesome gardener and had made quite a beautiful garden in front. Unfortunately we are not gardeners...or even fairly knowledgeable in gardening so I had to scale back the front garden about 1.5 to 2 feet or so, but I left all the large bushes and plants and I like the more simple look to it. I was able to weed and mulch the other day and I feel like it looks pretty good now. Also we planted new grass were the garden had been and it is now growing in making that look better.
I don't have before or after pics really...but I did take some pics yesterday, of all the flowers that are in full bloom out front. I don't take credit for them, but man they are pretty.

This bush is by the front door. I love the colors and flowers.

I try not to do the typical bee in the flower photos that everyone seems to do...but I guess I got caught up in the moment. Plus there were bees all around the bush and the bees here are ginormous. eek

The pretty front yard garden. You can kinda see in the bottom left were the new grass is growing in were the garden had been.

Close ups of the pink and yellow ones....just cause... I had my camera and they were there. :D
