Camping 101

We went on our very first Family Camping trip a few weeks ago.
It was a nice camp ground and our little spot was tucked back into the trees away from the car loop which I loved.

Cute Stuff.
Him...not the "stuff." ;D

The trail to the car - away from the camp spot.

Getting started on yummy chips.

I love these three...

Our camp spot was also like 50 feet away from this little playground.
It was definitely not a new or well cared for playground, but the boys loved it.

Back at camp we got a fire started for Hot dogs and S'mores.

The boys were very interested in that part.

Yummy.....

After dinner and dessert Kenny entertained us with some stories and we sang a couple songs to the dismay of our kids...lol.
Efton enjoyed the stories...just not so much the singing.

Malias on the other hand was asking if he could go to bed as soon as we were done eating, and continues asking every couple minutes.

Throwing his head back in boredom.

That night it was a CRAZY rain/wind/thunder storm. But we were determined to stick it out. Plus...I don't think we were to keen on the idea of trying to pack up in that downpour. So we stayed in the little tent listening to the loudness. Actually the boys fell asleep just before the storm hit and they slept through it all. Kenny and I sat listening and watching the bright flashes for hours. It was kinda fun.
I only wished I had remembered to pack our pillows.
then sometime in the middle of the night...maybe 2-3AM the tent was just too soaked and water came slowly through the sides of the tent, slowly soaking Kenny's sleeping bag and trying to soak Malias' on the other side. I kept pulling Malias closer to me all night but he still ended up pretty wet and Kenny was completely soaked along with the blanket "padding" that was under his sleeping bag. I mean CUPS of water soaked. Sopping wet. I was Shocked he just suffered through it!!
I was in the middle with Efton and I was getting cold and uncomfortable even! I had asked him at least a few times if he was getting too wet and if we should just go, but he would say no.

Luckily we had put a few things in the car when it started to sprinkle, but unfortunately, MOST of the stuff we just stuck under the picnic table or in the tent. Yeah, the stuff out side was a HORRID muddy wet mess. I mean it rained for hours! And heavy rain.
It was a mess to clean up for sure!!
We mostly rolled it all up as best we could, put it in the car and then decided to go to breakfast...I am sure we were a lovely sight! lol.
But it was a yummy breakfast. And overall a fun adventure.
I can't wait to go again...on a sunny weekend. ;)
