Ace of Cakes...wanna-be

I did this one girly because I was bringing it to a family birthday dinner for two of my cute little nieces who both just turned 2!

Honestly, I think the decorations don't match very well, but I wasn't trying hard...just playing around.

Here is my mock mini wedding cake...hee hee. Just having more fun. (Actually, I was only trying to make one cake when I realized I only needed one cake cut in half with icing in the middle for each layer....and I had made enough batter for four cakes....thus the reason I made two cakes...anyways)

Close up...so you can see all the imperfections...ha ha ha

Well I thought it would be fun to try to work with fondant again...I had only done it once before a couple years ago for my husband's birthday cake. I love the show Ace of Cakes on food network and every time I see it I want to make cakes like them. I have been a bit sick and I don't think this was the smartest thing to do while not feeling well, but oh well. It took a looooong time to make everything and then put it together, but I did have fun. This fondant recipe I found online is a marshmallow fondant and it is sooo much yummier than the real stuff and it can still look great. I don't think I will ever be as good as the people on Ace of Cakes...mostly because I don't think I want to dedicate the time or money to get there at this point. But I definately will do it for my families birthdays....and who knows...maybe by the time my future kids to come are all grown, I will be a pro....ha ha.

You seem to be a woman of many talents! I thought those looked great! Maybe one day I will get brave and try a fondant frosted cake. But for now, I keep it basic:o)!
